Custom Mizuno 52-Wedge Degree Build

Customer needed a wedge shaft and grips to match his swing speed. Many don’t realize their wedge shafts aren’t stiff enough to produce accurate results from 100 yards and in.

I am thrilled to report another happy customer. After reviewing swing data together, the player requested that I build them a wedge with more swing weight and a stiffer shaft.

CPM stands for “cycles per minute,” which measures the frequency of a golf shaft. To obtain this measurement, a fitter places the grip end of a golf club into a clamp, then pulls on the tip section of the shaft and releases it to make it oscillate. Golf shafts typically read between 200 (low frequency) and 300+ (high frequency); the lower-end of the scale would be a shaft that flexes a lot, while the high-end of the scale is very stiff.

After collaborating with this customer, reviewing data, and listening to their wedge needs, I built a stiffer club to help with the all-important short game.
